Sure it's okay to be scared, but when you factor in how many people go to the park in a year and how many bear attacks there are, it's a pretty rare occurrence. There are far more bison attacks than bear attacks in Yellowstone and I believe there are no more than 150 grizzlies in the park. Black bears aren't a worry in a majority of cases and are much more timid. Just don't act like a tourist and try to pose with wild animals; give them their space and you'll have nothing to worry about, after all you'll be in their territory so respect it as such. If in the rare chance you actually get close enough to a grizzly without it or you noticing just stay calm and don't turn around or run. Back away slowly without letting it get out of your sight. They will more than likely head in the opposite direction. Worst comes to worse, it is legal to openly carry a firearm in National Parks now, but as far as handguns you should go no less than a .44 magnum, and preferably a .454 casull. I'm not sure of Wyoming law which the majority of the park is in, but in Montana you can kill a grizzly in self defense if it is truly necessary. For most purposes, truly necessary pretty much means you'll be close enough to feel its breath, but literally within about 5 yards.

Are you sure that that's man and not simply a strange example of adult female?
